# Variations and starting from a picture

**Variations** keep a picture's settings and give new seeds, one to four at a time.

**Starting from a picture** uses a picture as the beginning of a new one, with a **strength** from 0 to 1. The start can be one of your pictures, an upload or one from Geenius OS Media.

With the Preview, the start picture is painted over; no model edits it. A real model that takes a start picture can edit or restyle it where its key is set.
